The NSW government will subsidize solar batteries as part of a renewables initiative.

Solar batteries will become more accessible for NSW residents with the launch of a subsidized battery initiative. Households and businesses with existing solar panels can purchase cheaper, subsidized batteries to store solar energy. Under the new incentive, the state government will subsidize between $1600 and $2400 of the upfront installation cost for batteries in homes with solar panels.

The subsidy will be a one-off payment. For homes without solar panels, the initiative will be included in the quote for solar and battery installation. Additionally, a $250 to $400 incentive will be offered for connecting to a virtual power plant, which can be claimed again three years later.
