Retail turnover rose by only 0.1% in April as consumers restrained spending amid economic uncertainty.

Consumers have tightened their spending due to cost-of-living pressures, resulting in a mere 0.1 percent increase in retail spending in April.

New figures released on Tuesday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed this marginal increase followed a decline in March, despite the Easter period, and a slight 0.2 percent rise in February.
