Families set to receive payment increases from July 1 as indexation takes effect

More than 2 million Australians will see an increase in their government payments as indexation takes effect from July 1. Families and pensioners are among the beneficiaries of this boost.

Approximately 1.3 million individuals receiving family payments — including the Family Tax Benefit, Newborn Supplement, and Multiple Birth Allowance — will experience payment increases. Nearly one million Australians on the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, and Carer Payment will also benefit from increased income and asset thresholds.

Deeming thresholds, which Centrelink uses to estimate earnings from super and investments, will also be indexed.

Paid Parental Leave will increase with indexation, aligning with the government’s commitment to pay superannuation on Paid Parental Leave starting in 2025 and to expand leave to 26 weeks by 2026.
