US electric car startup Fisker has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after months of financial struggles and failed talks with a top global car maker. Fisker, which sold the Ocean SUV, a competitor to the Tesla Model Y, is the second startup by former Aston Martin and BMW designer Henrik Fisker, whose first venture collapsed in 2013. The California-based company has been struggling financially for several months, revealing in February that it lacked sufficient capital to meet its needs over the next year. Earlier this year, Fisker was in talks with a major global car manufacturer to invest in the startup and collaborate on future electric vehicles (EVs), but these discussions ultimately fell through.
