If you’ve always wanted an Amazon Echo Dot with a Clock, you should act fast. Once Amazon sells out of its remaining stock, it will be gone forever. While you can opt for similar products like the Echo Spot, they aren’t quite the same.
Amazon still has some inventory of the Echo Dot with Clock, but only in the Cloud Blue fabric colorway. Glacier White is already sold out and won’t be restocked.
“You can check the product page for the latest device availability, but once inventory of this generation Echo Dot with Clock is sold through it will not be restocked,” an Amazon spokesperson told The Verge.
The Echo Dot with Clock, as the name suggests, is a variant of the Echo Dot featuring an LED clock for when you don’t want to ask Alexa for the time. Its light can auto-dim in a darkened room.
Besides the clock, it includes all the usual features of the Echo Dot. It earned an “Excellent” 4 out of 5 rating from PCMag and an Editors’ Choice award, partly for adding visible information like song titles and weather conditions on the latest version. However, it lost points for dropping the 3.5mm jack, meaning you can’t connect it to higher-quality speakers for music playback, which is unfortunate given its size and price point limitations.
The speaker’s discontinuation might seem obvious in hindsight. Neither it nor the non-clock version of the Dot have been updated since 2022. Instead, Amazon resurrected the Echo Spot, which features a full display as opposed to the LED matrix of the Echo Dot with Clock. The Echo Spot leans back, making it perfect for a nightstand but potentially limiting its use elsewhere. It also has extra ports to charge your devices, which is useful if you have limited outlet space.
The Echo Spot does cost more than the Echo Dot with Clock, so if you want a capable Echo device that tells time, pick up a Dot before it sells out—assuming Amazon doesn’t eventually announce a new one. Amazon typically refreshes its Echo devices in the fall.
