PlayStation VR2 Slashed by $200 in Urgent Fire Sale

It’s no secret that the PlayStation VR2 headset has struggled since its launch in 2023, and a new sale highlights those challenges: Sony is currently offering the PS5 accessory at a $200 discount. Normally priced at $600 for the headset, controllers, and a copy of Horizon: Call of the Mountain (the virtual reality spin-off of Horizon Zero Dawn), you can now get the PS VR2 bundle for just $400 through PlayStation Direct or retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and GameStop. The headset and controllers alone are available for $350, getting closer to an appealing price point for VR enthusiasts in 2024.

This marks the lowest price yet for the PS VR2 and might encourage more PS5 owners to give it a try. It could also attract people who don’t own a console but are interested in using the well-praised headset for PC virtual gaming, especially with an adapter releasing on August 7. While the PS VR2 remains more expensive than the Meta Quest 3 when considering the necessary hardware, it is still cheaper than the Valve Index and HTC Vive.
