Six months before the PwC tax avoidance scandal shook the Australian financial sector, nearly all of the consultancy firm’s 950 partners convened in Hobart, Tasmania.
It was November 2022, and according to a report by The Australian Financial Review, attendees now refer to the event as their “last hurrah” before the scandal erupted.
As one partner described it to the newspaper: “Nerds gone wild.”
The gathering reportedly featured speeches from tennis star Dylan Alcott, surfer Layne Beachley, former New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian, and broadcaster Stan Grant.
