Nerds unleashed: PwC’s final celebration before the tax avoidance scandal broke

Six months before the PwC tax avoidance scandal shook the Australian financial sector, nearly all of the consultancy firm’s 950 partners gathered in Hobart, Tasmania.

It was November 2022, and what attendees now refer to as their ‘last hurrah’ before the scandal unfolded was described by one partner as a moment when ‘nerds went wild.’

The event reportedly featured speeches from tennis star Dylan Alcott, surfer Layne Beachley, former New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian, and broadcaster Stan Grant.
