Drivers are urged to fill their tanks before a petrol price spike is expected this weekend.

Motorists are being advised to fill up their tanks now, as petrol prices, which are already on the rise, are set to spike within days across Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. While prices are currently dropping in these major cities, the NRMA predicts they will climb again by the weekend.

According to NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury, motorists could see a $20 difference for a standard tank. Currently, the average price of regular unleaded petrol in Sydney is 178 cents per liter. Melbourne’s prices are slightly lower at 175 cents per liter, while Brisbane’s average is higher at 199 cents per liter.

“If you’re in Sydney, prices are already starting to rise, but 178 cents per liter is still better than what’s coming,” Khoury warned.
