McDonald’s Australia reveals the staggering quantities of ingredients ordered in its epic 2023 ‘shopping list’—along with the two most popular menu items.

McDonald’s Australia has surprised customers by revealing it ordered over 150 million kilograms of potatoes and 80 million kilograms of beef last year. The fast-food chain shared its billion-dollar 2023 shopping list, which included a wide range of ingredients, from meat and chicken to milk, eggs, and salad.

Despite an egg and potato shortage and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, McDonald’s sold millions of meals nationwide. Last year alone, the company contributed more than $1 billion to the local supply chain by sourcing Australian produce, products, and ingredients from over 15,000 farmers.

As the cost of living continues to rise across the country, more Australians are turning to McDonald’s and other budget-friendly restaurants. Many have had to give up ‘luxury’ supermarket items like ice cream, steak, and fresh berries due to increasing prices. In response to expensive groceries and higher restaurant prices, Aussies are opting for fast food and affordable menus to satisfy their hunger.
