Over 45 flights have been canceled at Sydney Airport because of strong winds.

Dozens of flights departing from Sydney have been canceled as strong winds lash the east coast. Sydney Airport is currently operating with only one of its three runways due to the severe winds, with many canceled flights originally scheduled for Melbourne, one of the busiest routes globally.

An airport spokeswoman stated on Monday, “Due to high winds, Airservices Australia is utilizing our east-west runway, which may lead to delays throughout the day. We encourage passengers to check with their airline regarding the status of their flight.”

Qantas has canceled at least 25 flights from Sydney Airport, including 10 bound for Melbourne, four for Canberra, and 11 for other Australian destinations, according to the airport’s departures board.
