In celebration of women’s contributions to the aviation industry, three of the nation’s largest airlines—Virgin, Qantas, and Jetstar—will operate flights entirely led by female staff. This initiative coincides with International Women’s Day, with Australia’s first major airline female pilot, Deborah Lawrie AM, piloting a special Virgin Australia flight managed and operated entirely by women. Passengers aboard flight VA313 to Brisbane, which departed from Melbourne airport at 8:10 am, are experiencing a journey facilitated by an all-female team comprising pilots, cabin crew, ground crew, baggage handlers, air traffic controllers, pushback driver, and refueler, totaling 30 members.
An all-female domination of the skies to honor and celebrate the significant contributions women have made to the aviation industry.
